Hidden Depths

Hidden depths…As the title implies, this piece involves numerous layers of mixed media paint. Areas of the canvas appear to have jewel like qualities as I’ve used candy coloured aerosols over an aluminium background which really allow the colours to pop. I particularly like the surface finish of the resin as it is a variety of high gloss, satin and matt. Because I hand apply the resin I am able to use special experimental techniques while it is still wet. For this piece I’ve sprayed a white gold metallic aerosol over the surface then laced enamel paint through the resin to create the fluid effect and reveal the ‘hidden depths’ of the layers beneath.
